Funded by Norte Energia, the developer of the Belo Monte HPP, the workshop will feature lectures and panels that will address research into sustainable electrical systems

The First Workshop on Computing Efficient Energy Prices will bring together, in Florianópolis (SC), experts from the Brazilian power sector to discuss the impact of different mechanisms for calculating the price of electricity to ensure the growth of sustainable electricity systems at the national and international level.
The event, which takes place October 15-16, financed through the Research and Development program of Norte Energia, the developer of the Belo Monte Hydroelectric Power Plant, located in the southwest of Pará, will be held in a partnership between the company; the Federal University of Santa Catarina (UFSC), through the Electrical Energy Systems Planning Laboratory (LabPlan) and the technology company Norus, headquartered in the capital of Santa Catarina.

Norte Energia, which will be represented by the Superintendent of Planning, Sílvia Cabral, will take part in the opening of the workshop and will present an overview of the projects that it has been coordinating since 2015 – in compliance with Law 9.991/2000 and its amendments – and that highlights it among the companies in the Brazilian power sector that invest the most in new technologies and benefit the region where they operate.

The event will feature three lectures and three panels that will address the topics "Concepts of Hydrothermal Dispatch by Cost", "Definition of price in models with Unit Commitment", "Price Formation in Energy Markets”, “Operation and the Challenges of Hourly Price” and “Building the Value of Water – Short, Medium and Long Term Planning”.
