The actions aimed at conserving the flora of the Xingu region are concentrated in the Terra Firme Forest Monitoring Project, which studies, catalogs, produces and cultivates plants rescued from the areas affected by the Plant. To date, 721 plant species have been identified.
In the areas of suppression and demarcated collections, 3,406,440 seeds and propagules were rescued, as well as 201,923 specimens of plants and seedlings - of which 97.8% were reintroduced in nature.
The project also produced 84,746 seedlings to recover degraded areas and to plant in beds in the Xingu region. In addition, the Company produced 19,475 exsiccates (samples dehydrated and preserved in a systematic and organized way) for scientific purposes. Of this total, 17,191 were sent to teaching and research institutions.
