Conservation of Flora
The actions intended to conserve the flora of the Xingu region are focused on the Terra Firme Forest Monitoring Project, which studies, catalogs, produces and cultivates plants rescued from the areas affected by the Plant. A total of 721 plant species have been identified to date.
In the defined suppression and collection areas, almost 4 million seeds and seedlings were rescued, as well as 201,923 specimens of plants and seedlings - of which 97.8% were reintroduced to the wild.
The project also produced 19,475 exsiccates (samples dried and preserved in a systematic and organized manner) for scientific purposes, and use by research institutions.
